Initial Ideas for my music magazine.

In todays lesson I decided my magazine will be of the rock genre and will be taggeting teenagers and young adult who like rock music. I have also thought of a name for my magazine, which is SPUN.

Evaluation of School Magazine.

My magazine both follows and deviates from the codes and conventions of a magazine. My magazine does not have a sloggan above or below the title, however i possitioned the barcode at the bottom right of the magazine which follows the codes and conventions. my magazine does not follow the codes and conventions as i do not have an issue number and my picture does not go over the title. also on my front cover there is alot of white space which does not follow the codes and conventions. Like the codes and conventions, my magazine has a main front image which is a medium close up. my masterhead follows the codes and conventions of magazines as it is eye catching, a unique colour that stands out and is larger than the coverlines etc. Moreover my magazine also contains buzzwords such as FREE which follows the codes and conventions, as does my coverlines as they are down the side of the front cover, are all the same font and follow a colour scheme which does not clash.following the codes and conventions my magazine has picture text cohesion where the smaller stories have smaller pictures and the main coverline is the main story. also all the text is around the central image. however i dont feel that my masterhead shows the genre of my magazine but does show the target audience in a way, as it is pink.

Whilst making my magazine i used photoshop to manipulate the pictures and to do the front cover of my magazine. i have used photoshop before low down in school however my photoshop skills need improving. i also used quark to do my contents page, unlike photoshop i have never used this before however i found it simple to use.

Overall i think that my magazine has alot of room for impovement, i feel that it looks tacky and unfinished. i did not follow my front cover and contents page plan as when i took the pictures etc it did not go well. when creating my my music magazine i will take all of this into account and improve the quality of work.

Final Front cover for my school magazine.

QuarkXpress

In todays lesson we were shown how to use the software Quarkxpress.
we added images and text onto the page as a practise run.

we used tools such as:
rectangular picture box- to add images to our page and to create a banner at the top of the page...where we then inserted text using text box tool.
text box tool - to add text to the collums.
linking tool - to make our text run onto the next collum.

Editing my school magazine front cover.

First i started to manipulate the main photograph for front cover.

This is the final image i will use for my magazine front cover after i have edited it.

I then used the site 'www.dafont.com'' to get the writing for my title. I then print screened my chosen text and inserted it onto my front cover.

I then created a strip at the bottom of my magazine, i used bevel and embos to edit the strip making it look better.

I then got a picture of a barcode and the text 'free' and uploaded that onto my front cover...
